H.E Dr. Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, met H.E Mr. Yousef bin Mohammed Al Othman Fakhroo, the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs of the State of Qatar today at his office.

In their meeting, Their Excellencies discussed the bilateral relations of the two countries particularly in the fields of labour and social affairs. They have also exchanged views on ways of strengthening the cooperation in those fields.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid a two day official visit to the State of Qatar from 19-20 March 2019. Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport, he was warmly welcome by H.E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar and H.E Samia Zekaria, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Qatar.

Prime Minister Abiy met H.H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan and discussed the progress of Ethio-Qatar bilateral relations in addition to a number of issues of common concern. They briefly exchanged views on ways of enhancing these relations in various fields, especially in the field of economy - investment, tourism and infrastructure. The two leaders have also reviewed the major developments at regional and international level, and underscored the need to work together on issues of mutual concern.

Prime Minister Abiy has also met Prime Minister and Interior Minister H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister H.E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

H.E Ambassador Samia Zekaria presented her credential to the Emir

H.E Ambassador Samia Zekaria, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Qatar, presented her credential to H.H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar.

The Emir warmly welcomed the Ambassador, wishing her success in her mission and the relations between Ethiopia and Qatar further progress and prosperity. The Emir has also expressed his commitment for further advancing Ethio-Qatar existing strong relations and promised her his full support in the discharging of her responsibility of strengthening the ties.

On her part, the Ambassador conveyed to the Emir the greetings of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and wishes of further progress and prosperity to the Qatari people. She also seized the opportunity to reassure him of her commitment to do her level best to boost the relationship between the two countries.

Upon arrival at the Emiri Diwan, H.E Ambassador Samia was accorded an official reception ceremony.
